Plant Stem Cell Research explained

In many ways similar to the controversial embryonic stem cells doctors were studying, these plant stem cells could be stimulated to adapt into specialized cells and assist the plant in repairing damage. But the totipotent cells could, from one cell, replace existing cells, or grow an entirely new plant, all from one cell.
Plus, unlike embryonic stem cells, there were no moral or ethical questions, because nothing had to die to produce the totipotent stem cells – not even plants. The stem cells are cultured in labs, grown solely for research.
Suddenly, the ability to replace, instead of simply repairing, damaged skin cells was becoming a possibility thanks to plant stem cell technology.
Extracting the Difference
Furthermore, the stem cells themselves are not used in the skin care products developed with their help. Because the stem cells are grown in a lab, isolated from contaminants like pesticides and pollution, the scientists can develop purer quality and quantity stem cells.
